EFC Uganda Takes Part in the Inaugural New Vision Education Expo 2023

EFC Uganda participated in the New Vision Education Expo for 2023.
The 3 days Expo (27th-29th Jan 2023) that took place at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology Nakawa aimed at providing a platform for stakeholders from different sectors to share knowledge and discover exciting opportunities regarding improving the quality of education in Uganda. Exhibitors included; Government agencies, Telecom companies, insurance companies, universities, vocational institutions, scholastic material providers, SMEs, International schools, Primary and Secondary Schools.

In line with its vision, EFC Uganda seized the opportunity at hand and utilized the platform to engage with different stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of its presence and visibility within its key stakeholder audiences. This is crucial in guiding our service delivery journey concerning our contribution the education improvements in Uganda.
Throughout the Expo, our staff were at hand to educate participants about our offered products and services and as well as acquire information needs from them.

Speaking at the Expo, Francis Mutyaba, a representative from the Sales Department said that the expo provided an opportunity for EFC to directly interact with other stakeholders, share knowledge about the products and as well gain insights into how people can be serviced better.
According to the Head of Marketing & Customer Experience, Sylvia Tamale, EFC’s purpose is to partner with MSMEs and increase access to specialized financial services permanently while contributing to wealth creation, improvement of people’s living conditions, and development of Uganda’s private sector.

Therefore, platforms like the New Vision Education Expo foster engagement with different stakeholders within the education ecosystem and serves as a medium to gain insights that inform our service delivery. We look forward to similar platforms of this nature.

EFC Uganda (Ltd) MDI Wins Platinum for Best Microfinance in East Africa.

On Wednesday the 23rd of November 2022, EFC Uganda Ltd won Platinum under the category of “Best Microfinance Institution in East Africa” at the East African Brand Awards. The awards ceremony, graced by Senior Presidential Advisor / Industry Ms. Amelia Kyambadde was held at the Golf Course Hotel in Kampala.

Some of the key tenets that were considered by the organizers of the awards included; Economic sustainability, operational effectiveness and technology adoption, progressive leadership and culture, social and community contribution, commitment, and perseverance.

Commenting about this achievement, Ms. Sophia Nakazibwe, the Chief Operations Officer at EFC Uganda said; “This award is proof that we are headed in the right direction of achieving EFC’s Vision of becoming the leading and most preferred SME financial institution in Uganda by 2025”. She added, “I thank the EFC team for the great work done. And to you our customers thank you for believing in the EFC brand and we pledge to serve you even better in future.”

It is worth remembering that EFC Uganda recently won Gold under the category of “Best Microfinance Institution” in Uganda at the 4th edition of the Consumer Choice Awards 2022. The ceremony was held at the Golf course Hotel in Kampala on Friday the 29th of July 2022.The Consumer Choice Awards is an annual event aimed at recognizing business excellence by conducting comprehensive and objective independent market research surveys, to determine brand reputation, customer satisfaction and business excellence for the quality of services rendered to the populace.

EFC Uganda Limited (MD1) seals UGX 8 Billion Financing Deal.

EFC Uganda Limited (MDI) has sealed a financing deal worth UGX 8 Billion with Oikocredit Uganda. Oikocredit is one of the world’s largest sources of private funding to the microfinance sector.  These funds are planned to go towards financing SMEs.

Uganda‘s SMEs sector which is a primary driver in Uganda’s journey to full economic growth and independence is growing tremendously. EFC Uganda is working towards becoming the leading SMEs financial institution by 2025. It is this vision that constantly propels us to find innovative solutions to address challenges facing SMEs. And, creating easy access to financing is fundamental in realizing this vision.

This financing deal is concluded at a critical time, a time when SMEs are struggling to recover from the effects of the Covid – 19 pandemic. SMEs face a number of challenges and the most reported is the limited access to financing. Small Enterprises employ between 5 and 49 and have total assets between UGX 10 million and not exceeding 100 million. The Medium Enterprises therefore employs between 50 and 100 with total assets more than 100 million but not exceeding 360 million. Enterprises that meet these requirements will be able to benefit from this fund.

In the recent, EFC Uganda has created different products to service SMEs better. In April of 2022 EFC Uganda designed and rolled out a campaign dubbed “SIMBULA LOANS NE EFC” this initiative is extending loans close to UGX 13.5 BN to Ugandans.

EFC Uganda is also part of the Small Business Recovery Fund, a partnership with Bank of Uganda where entrepreneurs can get loans of up to UGX 100 million at very low interest rates of not more than 10 %.

EFC Uganda is committed to contributing to the development of Uganda’s private sector by providing increased access to financial services for the underserved Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) market segment.

This was at the 4th edition of the Consumer Choice Awards 2022 ceremony that was held at the Golf course Hotel in Kampala on Friday the 29th of July 2022.
